How might your whole life be a work of art?

It's funny to me how many people say, "I'm not creative."  What?  From my perspective, this statement is a complete impossibility.  Creativity is an innate feature of our being. 

Yes, some of us have natural talent and a proclivity to outward expressions of flamboyant artistry.  Others of us use our creativity more subtly, others may be creative and not even know it's happening. 

Think about it...how are you creative?  Honor that part of yourself right now.


I do sometimes feel I have not one creative bone in my body.  Usually that's when I'm overwhelmed, task oriented, overly focused, or completely stressed out.  What I've found is staying in my open creative space takes practice.  It takes commitment to choosing a wider perspective.  It takes looking for inspiration.  Sometimes it takes yanking myself outside my own box.  Now when I feel bored, irritated, or frustrated I think of it as the perfect opportunity to get CREATIVE. 

For all you business minded people who think business doesn't work unless it's efficient, task oriented and hierarchical...(shhh, that was me) and all those who hope for a huge shift in corporate consciousness.  This will shake up your paradigm.  How to build a beautiful company, along with this interview with Bill Witherspoon, the founder of The Sky Factory, a consensus based company, is amazing.

Sorry, there's no inspiration without the despair...

Oh yeah, come on, you can't expect me to always come to you all happy.  Like you, I'm a full spectrum human, and I wouldn't be fully authentic if I didn't acknowledge that I can be scared, worried, freaked out, and down right hopeless at times. 

This thing that I'm wanting to inspire in others...this thing called the Thrill of Creation...it's actually not so easy.  It actually takes a lot of work.  It actually requires a huge amount of presence and darn right getting real with all those parts we don't like about ourselves.  OK, I'll own it, getting real with all the parts I don't like about myself, over and over again!

That's why people don't do it.  It takes courage, commitment, trust, faith, support, will, and Vulnerablity. 

If you're feeling the squeeze of shame and shadow over your life right now...I just want you to know, you're not alone.  I know it feels horrible and often like you are never going to get out.  But I'm letting you know, even while I'm steeped inside a scary place right now, I know there is a huge blessing for me on the other side.  The more I embrace my shadow the more freedom I know I will feel. The more you embrace your shadow, the more freedom I know you will feel. 

Often during these times we can feel completely alone.  This is the time we need the most support.  Please allow me or another professional or a friend come to support you through this time.  You are actually giving a huge gift to someone when you reach out for help.  The gift of trusting another with your most fragile self.
